Dan Andersen Joins Todd Adelman & The Country Mile

I’m very excited to join Todd Adelman & The County Mile as the lead guitarist! Our first show of the summer is at Waterloo in Louisville, 809 Mian St. Louisville, CO 80027 this Saturday, June 25th at 9:30PM.

Highways & Loways
Purchase his latest album entitled Highways & Lowways cdbaby and iTunes.

“…It’s no surprise then, that the album recorded at The Mountain House, Adelman’s studio in Nederland, is rich, deep and polished. From the wailing guitar and country beat of the opener “Cold Mississippi Blues,” which sounds like a lost Robert Earle Keen track, to the subdued ballad of “Ghost Train” to the thick, funky, baritone saxophone on “Oh Marie,” and gorgeous story of “Wabash Avenue,” Highways and Lowways winds like a country road through fields of Americana, pastures of roots rock and hillsides of outlaw country…”

New Recording in Progress!

Guitarist Dan Andersen recording a track at Beardog Studio in
 Austin, TX 2015
In February of 2015, saxophonist Gil Del Bosque initiated a weekly writers group in which each of five of us compose and rehearse a new piece.

We had the pleasure of spending two days recording at with engineer George Shalda at Beardog Studio in Austin, TX in June 2015 with Gil Del Bosque, pianist Dan Redner, bassist Eric Ross, and drummer Mike Fonseca.

Each of us contributed two original compositions to our debut album scheduled to
be released in 2016.

Lots of New Music in the Works!

After a very productive time in Austin, Texas, I along with my wife Karin and son Stuart have moved to Boulder, Colorado. I am happy to say that I have a lot of new musical projects in the works, both in Boulder and Austin.

Two New Albums
There are two albums to be released from the Austin based musical projects in which I am currently involved: an untitled trio album which is in the mixing stages, and a composer’s collective album which very close to going to print!

Rebooting Two Older Projects
My very dear friend Brett McKinney, whom I’ve known since Kindergarten and is my first musical collaborator who is the drummer for Phoenix based metal band Malo de Dentro, have been writing new material and recording some demos for first time since 1993. Our rock band, Gypsy Sunrise, existed for almost four years before we shifted gears and focused our energy on our high school jazz combo. So far we are very happy with the song writing progress and it looks like we will have lots of new music to share in the near future!
Back in September of 2015, I had the opportunity to reunite and work a private event at Chautauqua Park with Boulder native, Dan Cantrick. Originating in Los Angeles, our guitar duet performed both jazz and classical at the West L.A. venue, Boulevard Music. It has been fun spending time with him in a different geographical and musical context.
Thanks to Jack Sasson for sharing his photo of me

I am enjoying the music scene in Colorado and have been attending the many jam sessions in Denver and Boulder. Much like Austin’s jazz scene, the musicians have been very welcoming.
Be sure to visit my blog for regular updates which will include audio and video samples of the above mentioned projects!
